A clean bike is a safer, more efficient bike. Motorcycles suffer in our salty, wet climate. Not everyone has the luxury of insulated storage. We don’t only clean and remove rust, we ensure your bike is protected against further rusting. We only use top of the line products like Bilt Hamber, Motul, Ipone, ACF etc.

Prevention is better, and cheaper, than a fix when it comes to motorcycles. Anyone who has one knows parts aren’t cheap. Ensuring all critical components are functioning optimally is a must for safe and affordable riding. We confess to nerding out on all this kind of stuff.

Most people will change the oil, filters, and top up brake fluid, and coolant. Carrying out all necessary inspections detailed in the many pages of your motorbike’s service manual is perhaps another matter. Yet, each and every inspection is crucial for a well functioning engine and motorcycle.

We know from our own experience that it can be hard to find the time to drop off and pick up your motorcycle when you’re busy with work and life. That’s why we work on Sundays too. You can combine a few hours out while your bike gets done.

A lot of people rely on their bikes to get around. Our goal is to get your motorcycle ready as fast as possible. Our booking system ensures that any consumables needed are ready when you bring the bike. So no waiting for filters or parts.

Rigour and double checking with checklists is how we work because if something is not done right it can lead to component failure, or worse, be unsafe to ride. It’s easy too to ‘forget’ stuff or to cut a corner because it’s faster or the tool is not at hand. That is not how we roll! We stand by our work.

Every motorcycle is different. That is why we ALWAYS use the bike’s Factory Service Manual in conjunction with a Haynes Manuals for any bike we work on. You can’t thoroughly clean a motorbike without mechanical knowledge and the service manual. We also use AI models for researching and problem solving too.

You can book your motorbike in for some TLC over the phone or using our online booking system. Hassle free. If you need your motorcycle to be picked up and dropped off, we can arrange that too but the best thing to do is get on your bike, come out for a spin and have it done while you dine.

why trust us with your bike?
Throttle & Shine is a new business in Cork, but I am not new to the business.
One thing to clear up right off the bat is that Throttle & Shine is not a motorcycle repair service so if your motorcycle has a mechanical failure that needs fixing, that’s not Throttle & Shine. Now if you want to never have a mechanical failure, that would be us!
I have extensive experience in fleet management which not only included managing large fleets of off-road motorcycles, but also huge fleets of 4-wheel drive Toyota Landcruisers, as well as massive generators that were the only way to power hospitals.
My job was to sure that every vehicle worked perfectly at all times because those vehicles had to deal with some of the harshest terrains in the world and were used to deliver emergency medical services and transport critical patients across deserts, rivers, muddy tracks and up and down mountains.
All that meant preventing mechanical failure and breakdowns in the first place by carrying out rigorous service maintenance before service limits were even reached. Lives depended on those vehicles and the generators and spare parts weren’t available in those countries.
Motorcycles are a huge passion for me and when I’m not out riding my head is stuck in some motorcycle manual and I spend way too much time watching ‘how to’ wrenching and motorcycle videos on Youtube!
